1)
Reissues: When a fragrance, after having been
discontinued, is brought back into production - normally for a short period of
time. For example, the American Ideal fragrance had a normal production run from
1907 through 1934, after which the fragrance was reintroduced in 1941, only for
a four month period.
2) Dating Difficulties
(research continues and the chart will be updated as new information is
available):
a) Year of First Issue could not be
verified.
b) Year of Last Availability could not be verified or is in dispute.
c) Years of Issue could not be verified - no resources covering the needed
timeframe.
NOTE:
The dates used in this chart come from corroboration with Representative
Catalogs, Order Sheets, CPC Bulletins, CPC Outlooks, Avon Outlooks, Customer
Brochures, and, in the case the Orange and the Oriental fragrances, from Dorothy
Bernard's work as represented in the "Avon 8" Collector's Encyclopedia. The
ending date of "Avon" simply means that the discontinuation of that particular
fragrance occurred under the Avon label - for further dating of fragrances
within the Avon era, see
Bud Hastin's Avon Collector's Encyclopedia. Any help that you can provide to
further define these dates would be most welcome and greatly appreciated!
